Go With Your Gut – Me, Myself and Kids

Go With Your Gut

I think its funny that when I offer people advice on certain things, one of the first things that comes to mind is “Go with your gut”.  However, when it comes down to decisions I need to make…I don’t.

There have been a few things that have happened over the last few months, where I’ve wanted to hit myself for not listening to what my gut was telling me.

Last February I had to drive downtown and was debating on the route I would take.  The route I normally take would have been fine however at the last minute I decided to go another way.  Not sure what exactly made me go straight instead of turning left as I normally would have, but regardless, I took a different path and low and behold, got a ticket.

Should have stuck with my original route..

Another time I was driving somewhere and instead of going to the parking lot I normally park in, I decided to go to the one slightly closer to my destination to save myself a little time.  What happened?  No spots available.  I wasted more time driving to that lot, driving up and down ramps for 10 minutes and exiting to go to the original lot.

Should have stuck with my original plan.

The time I fed my baby his bottle lying down only to sit him up afterwards, play around and bounce with him, only to get spit up on in the clothes I was about to leave in.

Should have listened to myself and got dressed after the feed.

And finally, the latest incident that occurred, when I went to a walk in clinic, knowing that I despise walk in clinics, and listening to the “doctor” who gave me a prescription for a condition I didn’t have.  I told myself to call the doctor in my family (who couldn’t see me) to make sure what the walk in gave me was correct, but no, I didn’t, and for 2 full days was taking an antibiotic that wasn’t even treating me.

Should have trusted my instincts.

So, if you are ever not sure of your decision on which path to take, what road to travel on, what outfit to wear or who to trust, GO WITH YOUR GUT!!
