Staying In the City for #MarchBreak

A Day in the Life Family Kids Uncategorized

I don’t know about your kids, but my son is counting down the days until March Break. He loves school, but is excited to have a little break from homework, have some downtime with family and friends, and do things he loves to do.

With the hustle and bustle of ‘real life’, it is sometimes hard to get to do all the things we love in just a short two day weekend.  So it’s exciting for him that this March Break he gets to do just about everything he loves.

So, for all you out there staying in the city this March Break, I’ve decided to put together a list of the top 5 things you can do with your kids.  And if the weather keeps up like this, we know it will be good times!!

  1.  HOCKEY CAMP

My son is just about to finish his first year of House League Hockey.  Before he started he wasn’t even sure he wanted to do it.  But he had the best time and made some great friends.  So it was only natural that he wanted to stay in his skates for a few days over March Break.  We signed him up for Kids of Canada hockey camp for 3 days. And whats great about this camp, is that they offer different programs all year round; PA Days, Christmas Break, and of course offer a full summer session too.

2.  SKYZONE

This is one of those places that you just can’t enough of!  Every break whether it be over Christmas or a PA Day, SkyZone Vaughan is one of our ‘go-to’s’.  For those not familiar yet, SkyZone is an indoor trampoline park and there are locations across the city.  For us adults that like to participate its a great workout!  And for the kids, well it is just FUN!!  Check out their site for a location near you!

3.  SCIENCE CENTRE

Since Z started grade 1, one of his favourite subjects has become Science.  And recently his class went on a field trip to the Science Centre.  He loved it and always wants to go.  There is so much to do and see there that you really need an entire day to get it all in!

4.  GAME DAY

Now if you are like me you don’t ALWAYS want to be on the go.  Sometimes staying in is just as fun.  Since Z was 5 he has gotten more and more into board games.  So gather around the kitchen table, grab some lunch and pull out those games.  Some of our favs?  Junior Monopoly, Connect 4, Sorry! just to name a few.  I think the next one on my list will be Scrabble!  Z loves to spell and we need to keep the brain working over March Break right?! Check out the variety of options Hasbro has for games.  You won’t be disappointed!

5.  FAMILY TIME

Nothing like some good old family time.  This year both my husband and I decided to take a couple days off work during March Break so that we can hang out with the kids. The work week is so busy and by the time kids are home from school, dinner is made, baths are prepared, the next thing you know its bedtime.  So to get in some quality time means alot to us.  Stay in with Netflix and watch a movie, go out to your favourite restaurant and grab some lunch, or go get your kids favourite dessert.  No doubt we will be going for some chocolate ice cream at some point! Z’s fav!! Do whatever you want just because you can!

There are so many other things to do over March Break and would love for you to share your favourites!

So, let me know what you are doing this March Break, and remember, HAVE FUN!

For the last 7+ years I have immersed myself in the "mom life". My blog, appropriately named Me, Myself and Kids is my life; the challenges, the laughter, and the tears. But I also offer my own version of motherly advice. In doing so, I’ve designating myself as an MD or “Mom Doc”. Not because I know it all. Don’t get me wrong. It’s an open perspective; my learnings shared so you can take the good, bad and ugly and adapt it to your own family life. So please join me as I share all of the crazy and overwhelming thoughts and experiences of the mom life with Me, Myself and Kids.
