10 Foods That I Can’t Live Without

A Day in the Life Food Health & Fitness Reviews & Giveaways Things We Love Tried & Tested

foods

It was only a couple of months ago that I put myself back on a macro counting, flexible dieting lifestyle. I can eat any foods I want but only within a certain limit. I’ll admit that some days are easier than others. Or better said, I try my best to follow it and count everyday, but sometimes just due to circumstances or schedule, I don’t count.

But that is okay. A day or two a week won’t throw me off and make a huge difference. But I do try to stay as consistent as I can.

With that, I have found that I am quite consistent with the foods that I do eat. While I don’t like to have/eat the same things every day, I’m finding more and more that the majority of the foods or snacks I eat per week are pretty much the same.

So these 2 months combined with my first go round on this flexible dieting journey in 2016, I have found that there are some foods that I just can’t live without.

For those of you thinking about trying this lifestyle or just for those who eat a high protein or low carb diet, here are my go to foods or snacks. I’d love to hear what yours are!

1.PB & Me

foods

To say I love peanut butter would be an understatement. But the fat content is a bit too high for me. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll eat it but likely only a tablespoon. To supplement the taste without the fat, I use PB & Me. It is an all-natural, low calorie powdered peanut and almond butter. And the taste is great!

2. Protein bars

foods

You would be surprised how many protein bars I eat a day. I’ll just say at least two 😉

But I have many favorites for snacks like; One, Quest, Daryl’s and B Up. Chocolate chip cookie dough and obviously anything chocolate peanut butter are the best! But my favorite for post work out is Power Bar.

3. Allegro Cheese

foods

Okay, I LOVE cheese. Like you don’t even understand. If someone said to stop eating cheese, I’d think they were crazy. I really couldn’t live without it.

When I first started counting macros, someone told me about a high protein and lower fat cheese. And from there I was hooked. It tastes great and makes meal planning super easy. Oh, and did I mention it is lactose free?

4. Meat protein

Every meal has to have a protein. So this one is easy…I’ll try to change it up every day and go with either extra lean ground beef, turkey, chicken breast, salmon or shrimp. Either in pasta, a wrap or salad.

5. Nu Pasta

foods

I love pasta. I mean who doesn’t love going out for some authentic italian meal and having a huge bowl of pasta! Now while I won’t cut it out completely, I love it too much to not have often enough. So I supplement this too with Nu Pasta. Low calorie, low carb, high fibre, gluten free, filling, and even better, its ready in under 2 minutes!! Highly recommend this product. Even my 8.5 year old loves it.  Want to try it? Buy it HERE

6. Collagen Peptides

foods

Okay so this isn’t a food. But for an added boost of protein that is also good for your bones, skin and nails, count me in! I put a scoop in both my morning and afternoon coffee. But it can also be used in a number of items. Check it out. A couple of my favs are Sports Research and Vital Proteins.

7. Eggs

No explanation needed here I don’t think. Eggs are perfect just about any time of day. Great source of protein and healthy fats (if you keep the yellow). My biggest problem with eggs is deciding which way to make them! PC Blue Menu Omega 3 is what is normally purchased in our home.

8. GG Crackers

foods

Fibre is extremely important in ANY diet. And GG Scandinavian crackers are the perfect solution. Now while they don’t taste great on their own, I’ve found many amazing breakfast and lunch options to make with them. Totally helps me stay regular too. Low carb, high fibre = win win.

9. Cookies & Cream Frozen Yogurt

Every good day deserves a snack before bed. So I always leave room for one of my favorite snacks. Ice cream or frozen yogurt. I have so many favorites like Chapman’s, Good North and Breyers Delights. Always cookies & cream flavour. I can’t help it!

10. Flatout Bread

Like my love for pasta and cheese, I also am very fond of bread!! Bagels, rye bread, you name it, I’ll eat it. And I still do. But every so often I need to change it up wrap style! I discovered Flat Out Bread a couple of years ago. These flatbreads are half the calories and half the carbs of two slices of whole wheat bread so if you are counting macros or calories they are a great option.

So there you have it. My top 10 choices for my everyday.

Whatever “diet” or lifestyle you choose, there are always great choices!

What are some of your favorites?
