Spring Wellness with Thursday Plantation – Me, Myself and Kids

Spring Wellness with Thursday Plantation

Family Health & Fitness Kids Things We Love Tried & Tested

It is finally spring time! The season I truly look forward to the most.

Hello sunshine, warmer temperatures, and a healthier family…or so we think.

I honestly dread the months between October to April. Someone in the family is constantly sick with some sort of cough, flu or cold, so really, spring is welcome!

Except for the fact that my son was diagnosed with seasonal allergies last spring, it typically is the season where we are the healthiest. And we want to keep it that way!

I had heard about essential oils for a while now but never really thought twice about them. But more and more various products would come into conversation and I became intrigued.

I came across Thursday Plantation and discovered that they carried these products that I kept hearing about. And a few of them really got my attention; Eucalyptus, Lavender and Tea Tree Oil.

Why you ask? I’ll tell you!

Eucalyptus Oil

In February I came down with a horrible sinus cold. I was using nasal sprays and decongestants, but nothing was super fact acting. I happened to go to a spa one of the days I was sick and they had a Eucalyptus steam room. Lets just say it was heavenly. Breathing in the steam and eucalyptus made all the difference. And from there, I was hooked. I knew that if I had a sinus cold again, I would want to use Eucalyptus. And last week, when I came down with yet another sinus head cold, it worked like a charm.

I know that I’ll be using this on myself and the kids should another cold rear its ugly head! But what I didn’t know was that Eucalyptus Oil had so many other uses. Check it out:

Lavender

As I’m sure many of you moms and dads out there can relate, sleep is a luxury after kids. With two young boys, one of which often wakes up middle of the night, not to mention a bladder that wakes me up at least once a night, it is rare I get a full nights sleep. I really will try to do anything I can to get more rest and a more restful sleep. And in addition to hearing that Lavender is supposed to improve sleep, I also learned that it helps provide calmness.

I tried using a Lavender hand cream every night before bed thinking that the aroma would help. I’m not certain that it has so we moved on up to the oils! Sprinkle some on your pillow before bed and zzzzzzzzz.

Check out the Lavender Oil below. And again, this too has so many other uses.

Tea Tree Oil

The first time I heard about Tea Tree Oil was when my kids started school. I was told that using a few drops while the kids are in the shower with their shampoo, would prevent lice. So I did and (knock on wood), we have not had one lice scare. Yet I had honestly no idea what else it could be used for.

Did you know you can use it for minor cuts and scrapes? To freshen up smelly hockey gear? Acne?

It seems I’m out of the loop but do you know who isn’t? The future princess! Meghan Markle revealed that Tea Tree Oil is her secret skincare weapon and her ultimate travel necessity! Research shows this essential oil is a powerful antiseptic, and a natural acne treatment.
