As many of you know I love reality television. And I especially look forward to Tuesday nights to watch Guiliana & Bill.
In this episode, G was playing with baby Duke and had to change his diaper. When she was done, she looked to her side, found the package of wipes and said “Oh no, I forgot to wipe you!” I laughed out loud thinking, “Been there! Done that!”
I’m not the only one that insists that baby brain really exists. It happened with my first, then again with my second.
And the other day the baby brain kicked into full gear. And it goes a little something like this…
Baby T is known to wake up from some naps early because he made a poop. And I do the same thing over and over…I go and change him and then leave him hoping (and silently praying) that he falls back asleep.
Well, the other day was no different. Half hour into his nap I hear him waking. I leave him. 15 minutes later he’s still awake. When that much time has passed after such a short time asleep, I’m certain its because he’s made a poo.
So, I go in, knowing not to talk to him while I change him, do it as fast as I can and get out. Done! In less than 2 minutes. Hopefully now he will fall back asleep.
10 minutes pass and he’s still awake, then 15 minutes…and now I’m hearing through the monitor that there’s some kind of play going on. I decide to give it 5 more minutes.
Reluctantly, cussing under my breath, knowing that this kid just isn’t going back to sleep, I go into his room. WTF!!! The entire room stinks of poo! As I approach the crib I think, he poo’d again? Um, NOOOOOOO. He didn’t poo again. I LEFT THE DIAPER IN THE CRIB…..OPEN.
There is poo EVERYWHERE. On his crib sheet, his blanket, his Binki Bear, his pacifiers, his feet, his hands, his face. The diaper is laying open on his side, the wipe on the other, and the piece of poop, yup, right beside his head.
Baby brain or just plain stupid??!!
At this point I couldn’t help but just laugh. But the stink on him and his room will haunt me for the rest of my life! But I can honestly say that from now on, I will always be more careful when it comes to diaper changes!
