It has been almost one year since my husband’s accident. It has been a whirlwind 11 months to say the least. Recovery was long and painful for him, and of course was hard for all of us. Though he is pretty much almost at a 100% recovery, there are still some off days, and those days when we can’t help but remember or think about it.
For anyone that knows my husband though, knows that he doesn’t give up easily. Missing his half Ironman race was extremely hard for him. He only had 6 more weeks before the race. He was ready. But it never happened. And because of that, it made him even more determined to recover and be able to get to the finish line this summer.
The race is just a few short months away which means training has begun. Longer runs, longer bike times, more swim time. And of course waking up very early in the morning to get a good run in before the start of the work day or weekend.
He made the decision last week to start running outside in the morning now that the weather was getting better. But we knew that the only way he could go outside in the wee hours of the morning and be safe, is to wear something where he can be seen in the dark. And when we came across RunLites we knew we hit the jackpot!
RunLites are a lightweight, wearable, hands-free lighting solution for outdoor activities. They are designed for running, walking, cycling, and more, and are good in any climate. RunLites are available in a variety of styles, colours and sizes to meet function and fashion needs while maintaining its most important feature – hands-free access to light for added safety.
We chose the RunLites SLING which offer hands-free directional light without the warmth of a glove. They are weather resistant to withstand the elements and are palm free making them feel ‘barely there’. It has a wide reflective strap and a velcro pocket for your rechargeable LED unit.
Wearing these gloves made both my husband and I breath a lot easier. He was comfortable knowing that he had a light to shine while he was out running or cycling so that cars could see him. And I didn’t have to worry (well, as much 😉 )
Now you can forget sacrificing your own visibility, comfort and convenience with bulky headlamps or reflective gear. Put light where you need it while running, walking or cycling in the early mornings or late night hours with RunLites!
RunLites come in a variety of styles and choices, and price ranges from $15.95 – $29.95. The LED light units fit in all RunLites gloves and RunLites Slings and are sold separately with a dual port rechargeable cable ($15.95/set of 2).
Come check RunLites out on social! They can also be found on Twitter and Facebook.
