It is the time every mom waits for from the moment she wakes up in the morning. Yup, you guessed it, bedtime for the kids. Your time away, time to be alone, do what you want to do and relax.
However, in my house the bedtime seems to be getting later and later therefore making mine and hubbies alone time less and less.
For some reason, and even without his afternoon nap, our 3.5 year old refuses to go to bed before 930. So, in order to get some mommy downtime, I’ve taken to putting him in my bed at 8pm with his blanket and turning on the TV. Okay, I know some of you out there think that’s not the answer, but you’ve got to do what you’ve got to do. Am I right?
Last nights downtime didn’t start until after 9pm. And why you ask? Here’s the turn of events of our night last night:
DS: Mommy, can you come lie down with me for a few minutes?
DS: Mommy, I need socks, can you get me socks?
DS: No mommy, not those, the RED ones
DS: Mommy, I have to go pee. I need help!! MOMMY!!!!
DS: Mommy, can you lie down with me?
DS: Mommy, Toopy is on now!! Come look!!
DS: Mommy, Toopy is over, can you come to my room now?
DS: Mommy, I need Cars in my bed…can you get them for me?
DS: Mommy, can you lie in my bed with me?
DS: Mommy, my knee hurts, can I have medicine?
I finally got to the couch where I was able to watch 1 of my TV shows (for those that know me, I’m a junkie) after 9pm. I’m glad to say I got 1.5 hours to myself last night before I decided to go to bed (later than I should have of course).
But the best part that I wouldn’t change for the world, was the hugs and numerous kisses that Z gave me before he rolled over and fell asleep.
