In just a few more days, Hanukkah will be here and we are all getting very excited. It is one of the kids most favorite holidays for a number of reasons. There are gifts, there’s chocolate, there’s money…and it last for 8 days!
We used to get the boys a small gift for every night, but as they got older it got to be a bit much. Now, they get one present from us and one present from our immediate family.
Of course in order to get all of these presents, we have parties to ring in the holiday. And with every party, comes alot of planning…
What to eat, what to wear, and what we need for the best hanukkah party.
Thanks to our friends at Amazon, they make it easy for you to get everything you need right away.
So here are my favorite items to get everyone in the family ready for a great celebration!
Ugly Hanukkah Sweater – Let’s Get LIT
When the holidays roll around, everyone is talking about the ugly Christmas sweaters. Well, Hanukkah has them too! Show up to your family party dressed in this and give the entire crew a good laugh! It will be one you never forget!!
Every family needs a menorah. You can’t not have one! Every night you light a candle and say a special prayer. This set comes with a song book, dreidels and candles! A must have!
I’m not just saying this because I am a chocoholic, but chocolate “gelt” (money) is tradition. Kids and adults alike love it!! This holiday would not be the same without it!
I remember my kids first hanukkah. It was so exciting for another ‘first’ so of course I went shopping and had them wear a onesie that was holiday specific. This one reminds me of that and it couldn’t be cuter!!
Dreidels Like above, you cannot celebrate without the kids favourite toy, the Dreidel!! Whether they play the real game that goes with it, or just spin for fun, these are hours of entertainment!!
The traditional holiday food is what we call a Latke. It’s basically a potato pancake…fried yumminess! They are a staple over Hanukkah and you will likely find them on every table for dinner. Serve yours up with this gorgeous stainless steel server.
In order to make those latkes you need a great frying pan! Check out this set which comes with 3 different sizes. One for you, one for me, one for the kids!
So there are my top picks. What would you add?
If you are looking for a great activity to do with the kids this Hanukkah, check out the post I wrote last year on making a kids DIY Menorah!
Happy Hanukkah!!
